This term Oxford’s update comes from their wonderful treasurer Helen. she focuses on their fundraising efforts and expansion.
As well as getting new tutors into schools, this term the Oxford branch have been focusing on expanding their funding opportunities. We’ve been looking at how to create a sustainable income source for S4S in Oxford. We’ve also applied for several grants, including those that focus on disadvantaged groups in Oxford and small community organisations. If successful we plan to send any potential funding on speeding up DBS checks to help get tutors into schools earlier in the term, as well as starting to expand the branch to also include students from Oxford Brookes University.
At the very end of last term, following the success of last year’s sing-along screening of Mamma Mia 2, we hosted a screening of Love Actually in St John’s College to raise money and awareness for Students4Students. With a raffle, hot chocolate and snacks, it was fun and festive evening, and we’d like to thank everyone that came along and gave their support!
