Our Tutor Programme

We believe in the power of young people.
Our Philosophy
The Tutor Programme is designed to support children, who are at risk of leaving primary school with low literacy and numeracy skills, to improve their attainment in either Maths or English, increase their confidence and help them to discover a love for learning.
To increase the number of children leaving primary school with good literacy and numeracy skills, who are confident in school and who enjoy learning we:
-
Recruit and train university students to become effective one-to-one tutors
-
Pair our tutors with pupils, who meet our criteria for support, from our partner schools
-
Support our tutors to deliver weekly one-to-one sessions following our bespoke methodology
Our tutoring programme is the largest and longest running volunteer programme that Students4Students runs, and it forms the core of what we do as a charity. Through the programme we have helped over 300 pupils to improve their attainment in Maths and/or English, trained over 200 tutors and delivered 5000 hours of tuition.
Why become a tutor?
